With so many unknowns and escalating situations happening on a global level, some have been reaching out for support with how to manage the feelings that all of this bring up.  It is so important to remember that having feelings is completely normal for this human experience.  It is when the feelings become so big that they distract us from living life and experiencing happiness that we need to pay attention.

When things are new and or changing, fear of the unknown can creep in.  Fear is unable to offer us helpful solutions.  The dense energy of fear is designed to keep us feeling stuck. The ego loves this heavy vibration, as it keeps us from moving forward.  But, we do not need to live in fear and we can navigate these changing waters.  The opposite vibration to fear is love, and climbing up to this frequency is easy.

Here are some quick and easy ways to raise your vibration during this shifting time.

Gratitude

Yep, I am saying it again!  Gratitude offers us the opportunity to see the abundance that we have been given.  Regardless of how challenging things may be, there are always blessings around every corner.  It helps to physically stop whatever you are doing, chin straight and eyes up at a 90 degree angle.  Then take a deep breath and begin listing everything that comes into your awareness as a blessing.  Blessings can be everything from a cool breeze on a hot summer’s day to a hummingbird coming to your window to say “hello”.

If practising intentional gratitude is new to you, or you just want to join in the fun, I encourage you to join the Daily Gratitude Challenge that I offer every October.

Compare what you “feel” with what you “know”

Sometimes when feelings are extra intense, they can override our wisdom and discernment.  And, it is equally true that when we are bombarded with information, our feelings can be pushed out of reach.  Having questions in mind to help you restore balance between the head and the heart can be helpful.  Here are a few to help you get started and feel free to add other ideas in the comments.

“Is this information actually true?  How do I know”

“What are my feelings protecting me from?  Is this a real threat?”

“How old do I feel right now with these thoughts/feelings and what happened at that age that still needs healed?”

“Are these thoughts in my best interest?  How do I know?”

“Are these feelings loving ones?”

“What do I need the most in this world right now?”  (Not in the future or from the past, but right in this moment and breath.)

Decrease news and “mental junk”

Fear sells when it comes to media and news outlets.  In recent years, it has become clear that the reporting of news is skewed and not always fact based.  This leaves our systems feeling fearful and unable to trust.  In this space, it can be easy to spiral or make big decisions on small pieces of data.  And, it is important to have an understanding of what is happening in the world around us.  One way that has been helpful to me over the years is to set a timer to limit how long I am absorbing this media.  Next, when I find a story that impacts me energetically, I seek at least 3 other sources of varying views to compare the facts.  When the time is up, I stop taking it in.

“Mental junk” can be anything from scrolling, social media and playing phone games.  It can also be mental loops where we replay scenarios…some of which have not even happened yet.  These loops and scrolls occupy our conscious mind and create habits in the unconscious.  These habits are not serving us, but they are eating up our most valuable resource, out time.

Do kind things

When we do kind things, we release dopamine, sharing signals of happiness between the brain and the nervous system.  Acts of kindness can be physical, emotional, verbal and more.  Physical examples could include helping an aging or disabled neighbour cut their lawn; showing affection to a pet; or cleaning up garbage on the paths in your community.  All of these build a connection of action plus kindness equal happiness.  Emotional examples could be smiling at someone in the grocery store; complimenting a struggling young mom about something she is doing well; or saying “I love you” and meaning it.

Eliminate Gossip

What even is gossip?  Doesn’t everyone do it?  Gossip is casual conversations that share unverified stories that are often of a limiting, unkind or damaging nature.  Participation is the sharing of this information, the listening to it and/or the reacting to the information which shifts your mental programming about this person or situation.  Gossip is never for the highest and best of anyone involved and even when it holds a shred of truth, it is greatly distorted or manipulated.  Ways to not participate are to change the subject, counter with a positive or simply excuse yourself.  Every conversation that you engage in can either increase or decrease your vibration.

Do small things that help you to feel safe

Usually when something triggers us, it is because something is missing and/or we do not feel safe in that moment or idea.  Countering what leaves us feeling powerless with an action that empowers can quickly increase our vibration and our hope values.  Hope values are a currency that relate direction with our energetic vibration.  High hope values open up opportunity and ability to tackle obstacles with creativity.  Low hope values leave us feeling powerless and in victimhood without the ability to see a better outcome.

Some small things could include buying a few cans of food and keeping our gas tank full if we are worried about shortages.  They could also be writing a will, having life insurance and remembering to have quality time with those we love if we have a fear of not being able to care for those we love after illness or death.  It could also be creating a healthy relationship with our body by eating healthy food or parking at the back of a lot to get extra steps in.  There are many small steps that we can build into our daily life to help us feel more empowered.

Laugh

Watch silly and maybe even inappropriate comedians.  Tell jokes.  Listen to babies laugh.  Plan a girls night and laugh until someone says that they are going to pee their pants and then laugh some more.  Laughter is an immediate shift in vibration that is long lasting.  In fact, when you laugh, especially with others, you create muscle memory that is ignited as happening in the present for the unconscious mind when you remember it later.  Remind yourself often.

There are things in this world that we can not control.  We can always control our frequency.  Keep it flying high, my friends!  xoxo
